In the land of bright lights and celluloid, celebrities are seemingly made overnight. But for many, their star can fall back to earth as quickly as it rises, while other celebrities make the choice to leave Hollywood in favor of life away from the spotlight. 3. Phoebe Cates
Star of classic coming-of-age films such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Private School and Gremlins, Phoebe Cates captivated teenage boys throughout the 80’s. After marrying actor Kevin Kline in 1989, she put her acting career on the back burner in favor of raising a family, appearing in just a few small roles over the next two decades. In 2005, Phoebe realized her dream to run a “general store according to me” by opening the Blue Tree boutique in Manhattan. Store patrons are often surprised to discover the former starlet working the cash register and greeting customers.
4. Tiffany Brissette
If you grew up in the 80’s, you no doubt remember V.I.C.I., the adorable robot girl from the TV show Small Wonder. She also appeared in Parker Lewis Can’t Lose and a few minor movie roles. She last appeared in the 1991 series Equal Justice. She now works as a registered nurse in Colorado.
5. Chris Owens
If the name Chris Own doesn’t ring a bell, you might know him better as The Sherminator from the American Pie movie franchise. While many of his co-stars have gone on to star it hit films and TV shows, Owen has been spotted waiting tables at a sushi restaurant in Santa Monica.
